- Origin of Valentine’s day.
Valentine, also known as Valentine’s Day, is a couple’s love anniversary. On this day, couples often show their feelings for each other in different ways, such as gifts, romantic dinner, or simply spending time together. Valentine’s Day originates from the West and is introduced to many countries around the world, including Vietnam.
In Vietnam, Valentine’s Day is not only an opportunity for couples to show affection but also an opportunity for people to express their feelings to loved ones, friends and family.
- Story and meaning.
Legend has it that Valentine was a priest under the Roman Emperor Claudius II.
At that time, the Roman country was involved in many bloody invaders and was not supported by the people. King Claudius II said that the young boys would become soft when married, so he issued a ban on the wedding or engagement ceremony to easily gather soldiers for the army.
Valentine is the priest despite this unreasonable ban, he continues to celebrate the wedding for couples who love each other in secret. When it was discovered that Valentine was arrested and sentenced to death by dragging and stoning on the street to death on February 14, February 73.
Since then, Valentine has become a saint in the hearts of the people, they call February 14 every year Valentine’s Day or Saint Valentine’s Day.

In Vietnam, Valentine’s Day is a famous holiday for young people. For couples, on Valentine’s Day, they will prepare gifts to give. That gift may be anything, and usually, couples will spend time going out with each other that day.
Despite being an imported ceremony from the West, Vietnamese people also respond and enjoy the romance it brings. In addition to Valentine February 14, Vietnamese also know and welcome other Valentine’s ceremonies such as Valentine 14 March and Black Valentine April 14. However, these two holidays are not as famous as the red Valentine’s Day on February 14.
